Status: Full-Time, 40 hours/week. Monday - Friday.
Preferred Schedule: 1st shift, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The Brittany Company, a Precision Sheet Metal Fabricator since 1968, is seeking an additional full-time team member to support our production activities at our Wallingford, CT facility. Under the direction of senior staff, this position will be responsible for basic set up and operation of fabrication equipment to punch, cut, bend, insert hardware, grind/deburr and assemble metal parts. This team member will be required to assist with/conduct basic set up of metal fabricating equipment by selecting the proper tooling, machine programs, material and/or hardware for the job.
Equipment to be operated/set up by the Assistant Precision Metal Fabricator includes: CNC fabricating machinery (turret punch, laser, press brake) belt sanders, power/hand grinding tools, hardware insertion, drill presses and spot welders. The Assistant Precision Metal Fabricator will confirm that fabricated parts are accurate by checking work against blueprints and by using measurement/inspection equipment and gauges. All work must be completed in a manner such that the quality level is high and consistent. This team member will perform other tasks/responsibilities as required to support business operations. This may include assisting with loading and unloading material and finished goods (operate pallet jack). As well as, accurately count, clean, sort and pack cartons or pallets for shipment. The Assistant Precision Metal Fabricator will keep work areas clean, and ensure that safety and quality standards are met at all times.
The ideal candidate must have the following skills/experience/education:
*Enrollment in, or completion of a technical school program or 2-year college degree.
*Ability to read and interpret technical information on blueprints and job notes.
*Ability to check own work against blueprints.
*Ability to properly use and read measurement/inspection equipment and gauges.
*Experience with using computers and computerized (CNC) fabrication equipment.
*The ability to conduct basic set up of metal fabricating equipment by selecting the proper tooling, machine programs, material and/or hardware for the job.
*Strong math skills and mechanical aptitude.
*Flexibility/adaptability to work on various tasks based on changing priorities.
*Good verbal communication skills (English).
*Physical ability: pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, and visual acuity. Ability to lift over 70 lbs.
*1 - 2 years of experience working in manufacturing environment.
